Paleo Recipies

We have been reading lots about the Paleo lifestyle which in a nutshell is eating the way our ancient ancestors ate. In other words, hunter gatherer foods like meat, fruit, vegetables and fish. It means cutting out grains and processed foods which unfortunately means NO BREAD.

Like most people, I was carrying a few extra pounds and my blood pressure was a little high so I decided to try the Paleo way of eating.

It appealed to me for several reasons:

  • I could eat as much meat as I liked
  • I could eat as much fruit and vegetables as I liked
  • I could still drink red wine
  • It did not require an excercise regime to accompany it

At time of writing, I have been at it for 8 weeks, I have lost 8 pounds and my blood pressure is markedly down. I can honestly say, I feel great nearly every day. I am a convert but I do miss the bread. I intend to satisfy my bread craving occasionaly as it should not affect the ongoing success of the lifestyle.

One of the biggest problems I found was finding good Paleo recipes to keep the food interesting. I found a site in the USA promoting 1,000 Paleo recipes which you can take a look at by clicking the link below.

One of the great things about Paleo is that it promotes eating locally sourced, good quality food and that, coincidently is just what we stock here at Lambs Larder.
